Chloe Hoff

Core Facility Intern-Sleep Lab

Department of Biology| College of Natural Sciences| BS '23

Chloe spent her summer in the sleep laboratory freshening up the living area used for participants in the CH2P complex (checking laundry, making beds for overnight studies, taking out trash, etc.) Throughout the summer itself, she worked on an IRB grant proposal for an older adults with Alzheimer's device validation study. She also ran overnight participants for a younger adult memory consolidation study which includes evening, overnight, and early morning shifts. Other tasks involve data processing, device management for watches, and sleep scoring of PSG recordings. "Learning how to read PSG and sleep score PSG recordings has probably been the most rewarding experience for me. I only just started learning how to interpret different stages of sleep, but I was surprised by how much fun it is! It has also made me consider taking more neuroscience classes in the upcoming year."
