Jingjing Gao is a faculty member in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and member of the Center for Bioactive Delivery and the Models to Medicine Center.
IALS: Hi Elena, thank you for speaking with us today. We have a few questions for you so everyone on campus can get to know you better. How long have you been at UMass Amherst?
JG: I have been at UMass for one and a half years.
IALS: Where did you grow up?
JG: China.
IALS: Does the love of science run in your family?
JG: Nope, my love for science continue increasing as I gain deeper understanding to how they could impact human health.
IALS: How long have you been teaching?
JG: I have been teaching for one and a half years.
IALS: What is more stressful, grant proposals, research, or teaching?
JG: Definitely teaching.
IALS: Assuming your research is widely successful, how will it impact society?
JG: It will impact millions of people with neurological disorder worldwide with safer and more effective therapies.
IALS: Who do you admire and why?
JG: People who genuinely love, enjoy, and devote to what they do.
IALS: What are your interests when you are not a scientist?
JG: Writing in my journal, playing with my 2-year old daughter and 4-year old Shiba.
