New Information Security Service (Multi-Factor Authentication) Available for HR Direct

Members of the campus community who access Direct Deposit or W-2 information using the HR Direct Self-Service portal will be required to sign up for a new information security service called two-step login (also known as Duo Multi-Factor authentication) and log in to HR Direct using two-step login. Two-step login increases security by requiring more than one step to confirm a person’s identity when logging in to computer systems, applications, and networks.

To better protect your personal information, we encourage all university employees to sign up and use two-step login. You can self-enroll and choose the method for you second step by visiting https://multifactor.umass.edu any time.

Two-step login is available at UMass Amherst as well as the other UMass campuses as part of a strategic initiative to better protect the sensitive information of each employee and the university's assets from increased information security threats.

To ensure a smooth transition, UMass Amherst Human Resources and Information Technology will provide additional support as members of the campus community enroll and start using the service.
