Created by students in the fall 2024 graduate class, History 691: Exhibit Design Practicum on Student Activism, this exhibit explores UMass’ history of anti-imperialist organizing. The students’ project reaches beyond the famous anti-CIA protests that captured headlines in the 1980s to demonstrate the many ways UMass students organized for a more socially-responsible university.

The launch of the student exhibit will be held Thursday, April 3, 2025 from 12-2PM at the Bromery Center for the Arts.

Can’t make it to the launch? The student exhibit will be on display 9AM to 6PM M-F from April 3 - 30, 2025 in the lobby of the Bromery Center for the Arts.

Departmental (co)sponsorship of various types of events does not constitute an endorsement of the views expressed by the presenters, either at the events in question or in other venues. Rather, sponsorship is an endorsement of the exploration of complex and sometimes difficult topics. The UMass History Department is committed to promoting the free and peaceful exchange of ideas, one of the most important functions of the university.
