Here are a few of the ways we are here to support you during the fall 2020 semester:

Academic Liaison Librarian

Your academic department has a designated liaison librarian who can:

  • Consult on your research
  • Assist with conducting a literature review
  • Find the full-text from a citation
  • Suggest a library purchase
  • Integrate library materials into your syllabus
  • Refer you to experts who can provide copyright guidance
  • Work with you on research data management needs
  • Help with publishing… and more!

Access Library Electronic Resources from Off-Campus

We provide access to over 500 online databases, plus thousands of e-books and online journals.  All of these resources can be accessed from off-campus via the Libraries website using your UMass NetID and password.  More information is available here.

Borrowing from the Five College Libraries

Use Discovery search to request books and DVDs from the Five College Libraries with your UMass NetID and password.  We retrieve the material for you and notify you when it is ready for contactless pickup. Requested items for pickup are available at the W. E. B. Du Bois Library and the Science and Engineering Library.  If you’d prefer items be mailed, submit a request via Library ExpressBe sure to select your delivery preference, and check your mailing address for accuracy.

Borrowing from Other Libraries

Materials not available through the Five College library collections can be requested from other libraries. This service is free and available to UMass graduate students. Here’s what we can provide:

  • PDF articles, e-book options, and chapter scans whenever possible.
  • Assist in finding or purchasing e-books if available.

Physical items, such as DVDs and print books, may be difficult to supply due to the closure of other libraries.  Any physical items we are able to borrow will be available through contactless pickup

Mass Aggie Seed Library

You can book in-person appointments for the Mass Aggie Seed Library at the Science and Engineering Library on Thursdays, from 9 a.m. to noon.  The library includes seed borrowing and houses a focusing on organic, open-pollinated, and heirloom vegetable and flower seeds, as well as a collection of books to educate the community about seed saving.

Microform Viewing

You now have access to microforms collection through in-person appointments.
