Job Description:
Position Title: Student Ambassador
Department: Recruitment and Outreach Unit, Commonwealth Honors College (CHC), UMass Amherst
About Us: The CHC Student Ambassadors at UMass Amherst play a vital role in supporting outreach initiatives for prospective students and families. As representatives of the Commonwealth Honors College, our Student Ambassadors contribute to the recruitment process by sharing their personal experiences and showcasing the myriad opportunities available in academic and co-curricular settings.
Responsibilities:
- Individual and Group Engagement:
- Conduct personalized information sessions with prospective students and their families, emphasizing the unique benefits of an Honors education.
- Participate in small group discussions and panel presentations to provide a comprehensive overview of CHC experiences.
- Assist in the preparation and assembly of materials for various outreach initiatives, ensuring a professional and organized approach.
- Admissions Events Participation:
- Actively participate in admissions events, panels, and other presentations, representing CHC with enthusiasm and authenticity.
- Attend training sessions and weekly meetings to stay informed about CHC updates and improve public speaking and presentation skills.
- Front Office Support:
- Provide front office reception support, creating a welcoming environment for visitors to CHC.
- Greet and assist CHC third-floor visitors, offering a positive and informative experience.
- Respond promptly to incoming telephone calls and email inquiries, offering insightful information about CHC and its offerings.
- Networking and Alumni Interaction:
- Meet and brief alumni and other visitors about Commonwealth Honors College as needed, fostering connections and showcasing the lasting impact of the CHC experience.

Position Requirements:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Some experience in public speaking or group presentations.
- Basic office and computer skills.
- Enthusiastic about sharing the benefits of the CHC experience with prospective students and families.
- Professional interactions with internal and external constituents at all times.
- Must be an undergraduate Commonwealth Honors College student in good standing.
This position pays $16.50/hour.
