Investigative Aesthetics: Conflicts and Commons in the Politics of Truth

The panel features Caroline Sturdy-Colls in conversation with Eyal Weizman and Matthew Fuller on their latest book on the mobilization of sensibilities and aesthetic means, including those associated with theories of knowledge, ecology and technology, citizen counter-forensics, micro-history, and art, in order to present and examine radical practices such as those of Wikileaks, Bellingcat, and Forensic Architecture. They will explore how artists are engaged in investigations that probe corruption, state violence, environmental destruction, and repressive technologies and how journalists and legal professionals implement open-source videos and satellite imagery, for example, to undertake visual investigations. These investigations take place in the studio and the laboratory, the courtroom and the gallery, online and in the streets, as it strives towards the construction of a new 'common sensing.'
