I am interested in changing landscapes (both rural and urban) through the 19th Century. My work focuses on Delhi and surrounding areas, to track the transition in land use patterns through a focus on agrarian, pastoral and common lands. Simultaneously, I track the construction of imperial and commemorative landscape and monumental heritage through the issue of land acquisition. At another level, I'm more generally interested in the shifting meanings of "History" through the 18th and 19th Centuries, and the role of the colonial process in this transition.
