I am interested in the urban process and land use patterns through the late colonial and the post-colonial period. I would tentatively like to look at the acquisition of agricultural land in the making of the urban city, as well as the relationship of the (urban) village to the surrounding urban space. I'm interested investigating this through the question of labor, and how shifts in the labor process shaped the spatial landscape. At another level, I'm more generally interested in historical methodology of the urban, and particularly of space. Thus, I want to make my work a theoretical engagement with questions of time, space, place as well.
