Professor Sigrid Schmlazer’s recent book Moth and Wasp, Soil and Ocean: Remembering Chinese Scientist Pu Zhelong's Work for Sustainable Farming just received two awards:
- The 2018 Freeman Book Award for children's literature on East and Southeast Asia. The award is given by the National Consortium for Teaching about Asia (NCTA), the Committee on Teaching about Asia (CTA) of the Association for Asian Studies (AAS), and Asia for Educators (AFE) at Columbia University. http://nctasia.org/freeman-book-awards/
- The Notable Social Studies Trade Books for Young People 2019. The award is given by the National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS) and the Children’s Book Council to recognize "exceptional books for use in social studies classrooms, selected by social studies educators."
