Congratulations to Professor Sigrid Schmalzer, who was just awarded the Joseph Levenson Post-1900 Book Prize for 2018 for her book Red Revolution, Green Revolution: Scientific Farming in Socialist China, published by the University of Chicago Press in 2016. With this award, the China and Inner Asia Council (CIAC) of the Association for Asian Studies and the Levenson Prize Committee recognize her achievement for her work on the intersection of politics and agriculture in socialist China through the diverse experiences of scientists, peasants, state agents, and “educated youth.”
