Professor Julio Capó Jr.'s book, Welcome to Fairyland: Queer Miami Before 1940, is a finalist for the Lambda Literary Award in LGBTQ studies. Now in their thirtieth year, the Lambda Literary Awards celebrate achievement in LGBTQ writing for books published in 2017, and the finalists were chosen from nearly 1,000 submissions. The awards ceremony -- affectionately known as the "Lammys" -- is the most prestigious LGBTQ literary event in the world. It will take place in New York City on June 4, 2018. More information here.
