Joye Bowman, associate dean of the College of Humanities and Fine Arts and professor of history, is the 2021 faculty recipient of the Graduate School's Commitment to Diversity Award. The Commitment to Diversity Award annually recognizes one student and one faculty member for their outstanding contributions to diversity and inclusion within the UMass Amherst graduate student body.
"This award is a well-deserved recognition of everything Associate Dean Joye Bowman has done over the years to support and mentor graduate students our campus," affirms Barbara Krauthamer, dean of the College of Humanities and Fine Arts and professor of history. "Her dedication to graduate students of color and their academic and personal success is unmatched."
Professor Bowman says she is "honored to have worked with so many amazing students. They continue to inspire me, especially in these complicated times."
