The 2025 UMass History Magazine is out now! Check out the magazine to read about highlights from the classroom, cutting-edge student and faculty research, and engaging public programs that put history to work in the world.
This year’s magazine features stories about how UMass history majors are finding their paths through hands-on internships and research, from developing women’s history walking tours in Paris to archival research for a thesis on punk music history. Learn how faculty, students, and community members collaborated on programs including the year-long Feinberg Series on crises in academia, an exhibit on the history of student activism at UMass, and a course where K-12 teachers explored teaching ancient Mediterranean history with contemporary social issues in mind. Also featured are graduate student research in environmental history and stories of graduate students sharing their work through public history initiatives and the graduate history conference.
The magazine includes updates from our students, faculty, staff, and alums, profiles on new and retiring faculty, and spotlights on new books published by faculty this year.
