A Message for Our 2020 Graduating Seniors

We, the faculty and staff of the Department of History, warmly congratulate you on your graduation and are deeply sorry that we cannot, at this time, celebrate in person with you and your families to mark your wonderful achievements. We are fully committed, however, to organizing an on-campus celebratory event later in the year or whenever it is safe to do so. Once this event has been scheduled you will receive a personal invitation, and we very much hope you will be able to join us. In the meantime, please visit the College of Humanities and Fine Arts website to hear a message of congratulation from Professor Audrey Altstadt, Chair of the history department.

You may also be interested to listen to an address to history majors who are graduating in spring 2020 delivered by Lonnie Bunch III, current Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution, who served between 2005 and 2019 as founding director of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture. Please visit the photo album that our faculty have put together to celebrate the Class of 2020!
