UMass Amherst
What are the challenges of antinuclear activism?
How can we strategically and tactically to achieve nuclear abolition?
Join the Ellsberg Initiative for Peace and Democracy in person for a workshop lead by nuclear abolitionist and activist-in-residence, Dr. Ira Helfand.
Dr. Ira Helfand is a member of the International Steering Group of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) and Past President of the International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War. He is also co-Founder and Past President of Physicians for Social Responsibility and a member of the Steering Committee of the Back from the Brink coalition.
Dr. Helfand's residency is co-sponsored by the UMass History and Journalism departments.
Departmental (co)sponsorship of various types of events does not constitute an endorsement of the views expressed by the presenters, either at the events in question or in other venues. Rather, sponsorship is an endorsement of the exploration of complex and sometimes difficult topics. The UMass History Department is committed to promoting the free and peaceful exchange of ideas, one of the most important functions of the university.
