Book Discussion with Vijay Prashad: Strongmen
Presented by Forbes Library and the 2020 UMass/Five College History Writer-In-Residence Program
Join the internationally acclaimed public intellectual, activist and historian Vijay Prashad for a discussion of the book, Strongmen: Putin / Erdoğan / Duterte / Trump / Modi. Edited and introduced by Prashad, Strongmen is an energetic, focused book featuring essays by five acclaimed writers: American playwright Eve Ensler, Indian storyteller and actor Danish Husain, Turkish novelist Burhan Sönmez, Russian-American novelist and journalist Lara Vapnyar, and Filipina feminist novelist Ninotchka Rosca.
Copies of the book are available at Forbes Library and at the W.E.B. DuBois Library at UMass Amherst.

Vijay Prashad is the Director of Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research, Chief Editor of LeftWord Books, and Chief Correspondent for Globetrotter. He has written twenty-five books, including the two volume history The Darker Nations and The Poorer Nations; and he has edited twenty books, including Liberate the Colonies. For twenty-five years he has been a foreign correspondent for Frontline, India's national magazine. Prashad holds a PhD in history from the University of Chicago.
