Fields: Public History
Education: B.A., History, Wellsely College
Interests: History of Theatre and Film, Colonial America

My parents bought me my first textbook on Early American History when I was seven years old, and I've been hooked ever since.  While getting my BA in History with a concentration in Colonial America, I found myself as interested in ways that history could be communicated to a larger audience as I was in the subjects I was studying.  I took part in planning an oral history and lectures at my school, and spent a summer in an internship at the Smithsonian Institution Archives assisting in the documentation of their oral history project.  One of the major forces in determining my professional path came from an internship and subsequent volunteer position that I held at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, where I participated in the research and planning of over 20 exhibits.  My time at the NYPL allowed me to do research in my other research interest: the history of theater and film, while helping me discover that Public History was the path for me. I hope to continue my research in my fields while at UMass Amherst, and develop my skills in the Public History arena, so that after graduation I can move into a career sharing history with the public.
