BACKGROUND

Maya González (she/they) is a PhD student studying the relationship between collective genocide memory and political consciousness in the United States, Puerto Rico, and the global Jewish diaspora. She holds an MA in History and a certificate in Public History from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a BA in History and Jewish History from the University of California Santa Cruz. Maya has worked at the Yiddish Book Center, the Simon-Skjodt Center for the Prevention of Genocide at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, the JFCS Holocaust Center in San Francisco, and the Institute of Holocaust, Genocide, and Memory Studies at UMass Amherst.
