María Portilla Moya graduated with a B.A. in international relations from Universidad San Francisco de Quito in Ecuador and received a master’s degree from Universitat Oberta de Catalunya in higher education management. She is interested in the history of cartography, with a focus on the colonial period in Latin America, specifically in the northern Andes. Her goal is to describe history through the eyes of the map.
