BACKGROUND
Professor Bowman's publications include articles on Guinea Bissau, which have appeared in the Journal of African History, Current Bibliography of African Affairs, and the Revista Internacional de Estudos Africanos. She is the author of Ominous Transition: Commerce and Colonial Expansion in the Senegambia and Guinea, 1857-1919 (Avebury, 1997). She is currently working with Professor John Higginson on the role of American engineers in South Africa.
Professor Bowman is also Interim Dean of the College of Humanities and Fine Arts.
