I am a California native and completed my undergraduate education at UCLA and received a master’s degree from Texas Tech University. I work with Professor Appy. While I focus on the Vietnam War, my broader research interests include the history of American Foreign Relations and the Cold War. My master’s thesis illustrates that the transportation of American books to libraries in South Vietnam from 1945 to 1965 was part of an effort to influence regional development.

I had the opportunity to visit Vietnam in the summer of 2015 and hope to return there to conduct research. I am in my third year of studying the Vietnamese language. One of the items on my bucket list is to visit all of the presidential libraries within the next five years.
