Scholarships for HFA Majors

A number of scholarships are available to students who have declared their primary major in one of the College of Humanities and Fine Arts' fourteen departments.  Many of them are intended to help students who have demonstrated financial need while others reward academic achievement without regard to financial need.  Some of these opportunities are available through the HFA dean's office and others are based in the college's departments. Awards range from $350 to $5,000.

The university has moved all of its scholarships, awards, and prizes to AcademicWorks, the university's online application system, which allows those responsible for administering the programs to manage the entire application, award, disbursement, and thank you process seamlessly. In December 2017, HFA scholarships based in the dean's office and department-based scholarships were moved to the new system. Department-based opportunities will begin to move to this system in the coming year and may be available in time for the 2019-2020 application and award cycle.

Apply for all scholarships through the AcademicWorks website »

Students can submit their application for the study abroad and academic scholarships described on the HFA website through AcademicWorks. Information about departmentally-based opportunities may be available at department websites, posted in the department, or distributed to majors directly.

If you have questions that are not answered on the HFA scholarship or department webpages, you may send them to scholarships@hfa.umass.edu.
