
2021 Faculty Success Fellows Announced

Amel Ahmed, associate provost for equity and inclusion, recently announced the 2021 Faculty Success Fellows. Fourteen faculty have been selected to participate in the program for the 2021-22 academic year, including Anne Kerth, assistant professor in the W.E.B. Du Bois Department of Afro-American Studies, and Jimmy Worthy II, assistant professor in the Department of English.

Dragicevich, professor in the Department of Theater, and Riahi, assistant professor in the Department of Architecture, are celebrated for exceptional teaching, mentoring, and curriculum development efforts, and for their impact on students' lives.

Donald Junkins, poet who led the English Department's MFA Program, Dies at 89

Donald Junkins ‘53, alumnus and professor emeritus in the Department of English, passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at the age of 89. He taught creative writing at UMass Amherst for 30 years, serving as director of the MFA Program for Poets and Writers from 1970-1979 and from 1989-1990. He retired in 1995.

Yao Chen Costume Designer for Two Virtual Productions this Spring

Yao Chen, assistant professor in the Department of Theater, is the lead costume designer for two productions that can be streamed online in May: Until the Flood, presented by the Merrimack Reperatory Theater, and The House that Jack Built, presented by the Indiana Reperatory Theater.
