In the last year, dozens of faculty members have been the subject of targeted online harassment by the political right, involving a coordinated campaign by student publications like the Dartmouth Review that feed into national press like Campus Reform and Fox News. Although this kind of conservative targeting of “liberal professors” has been going on for years, it has taken on new force as a weaponized right-wing base has become increasingly active and virulent, particularly against feminist, queer, and faculty of color.  Moderated by Laura Briggs, the panels consists of Johnny Eric Williams of Trinity College, who was placed on involuntary leave from the Sociology Department, and Fawzia Afzal-Khan of Montclair State University, who was forced to step down as chair of Women, Gender, Sexuality Studies.
