Women, Gender, Sexuality Studies

The Department of Women, Gender, Sexuality Studies is dedicated to a diverse, inclusive, and intersectional examination of women and gender. The department believes that rigorous scholarship and passionate advocacy are essential to understanding and engaging with the historical and present status of women, gender and sexuality. The goal is to broaden and enrich our understanding of current power structures and how they can be transformed and improved.

WGSS offers students the opportunity to question the status quo and explore marginalized (or not) identities in the fields of art, literature, history, politics, family life, and other cultural domains. Students are encouraged to think critically about contemporary challenges and conceptualize solutions that can be applied practically in communities around the world. WGSS graduates go on to achieve success in a variety of fields, including business, education, health, law, and political action.
