DEFA Film Library
The DEFA Film Library is the only archive and research center outside of Germany devoted to films from and related to the former German Democratic Republic. The Film Library makes its extensive film collection available to a wide public in the United States and Canada through rentals, touring film series, and the production and distribution of DVDs. The Library supports a vibrant international network of researchers with workshops and panels at major conferences, working to shape the national and international research agendas on (East) German cinema during the Cold War. Some of the prestigious venues that have screened the Library’s films include The Museum of Modern Art, Anthology Film Archives and Lincoln Center in New York, and the American Film Institute and National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.
