From The Chair

Lean on us!

The W.E.B. DuBois Department of Afro-American Studies embues in-depth knowledge of the history and culture of black people in the Americas and the worldwide African Diaspora. Taking an interdisciplinary approach—with courses in African and Afro-American history, art, political science, and literature—the department’s approach to the study of humanity offers a broader understanding of the totality of human experience.

You, our graduates, are individuals who are empathetic, aware, and justice-minded. The world needs you more than ever. And we will always be here for you.
