Direct action Comics: Politically Engaged Comics and Graphic Novels

Comic art is a worldwide and intensely democratic medium with the power to give voice to the voiceless and marginalized. The exhibition “Direct Action Comics: Politically Engaged Comics and Graphic Novels” will present over 50 of the most influential and provocative graphic novels dealing with political and social issues. The exhibition will include printed copies of each book plus original art for representative pages and a variety of associated materials, including preliminary sketches and drafts for outstanding an important works,examples of rare posters and promotional materials, and a selection of important precursors for contemporary graphic novels including underground comics and the work of the political artists collective who produce World War III comics.
