Days That Got Away invites viewers into artists’ personal reflections on ephemerality, environmental transience, perseverance, and exploration into new methods and materials. The show spans a wide range of media including photography, sculpture, animation, painting, and printmaking.
The artists exhibiting work are part of Art 401, a course focusing on professional art career practices. The course prepares art students for life after graduation by teaching exhibition organization, grant application, and publicization of their work. Days That Got Away is an opportunity for the students in the class to put these skills into practice.
Most of the work in the exhibition was produced under Covid restrictions on campus. Being able to bring this work together now in an in-person, physical exhibition space is a testament to the individual artists’ perseverance and a celebration of the strength of their community in times of adversity.
Artists included in the exhibition: Adrienne Albro-Fisher, Thomas Ballarino, Alison Bourdeau, Maria Brooks, Joshua Cohen, Isabela Cusano, Jay Gonzalez, Ula Grabski, Dorothy Huang, Sarah Milanczuk, Henry Prentiss, Levi Streb, Momo Torres, Beatrice Waithaka, Dawn Williams.
This exhibition was made possible with generous support from the UMass Fine Arts Council.
