GSS Summer Grant Program

Funded by the Graduate Student Senate of UMass Amherst for the first time in its history, The purpose of this grant is to provide financial assistance to 10 graduate students in need during the summer to support their research endeavors, unpaid internships, and other financial needs. The grant is aimed at supporting students who are facing financial difficulties and may not be able to afford the expenses associated with their academic and professional pursuits.

Grant Details:

The grant will be disbursed in the form of $500 per student. The total amount of the grant is $5,000, which will be divided equally among the 10 graduate students who meet the eligibility criteria. The funds will be paid directly to the student's account to cover their expenses.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for the grant, graduate students must meet the following criteria:

  1. Must be a graduate student at UMass Amherst who has paid the Senate Tax for the current semester.

  2. Must be in good academic standing with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

  3. Must demonstrate financial need and provide documentation to support their claim.

  4. Must be conducting research, participating in an unpaid internship, or have other financial needs during the summer semester.

The deadline for submitting the application is May 12th, 2023, 11:59pm EST. Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee, and successful applicants will be notified by email no later than May 20th, 2023. Please reachout to Ms. Niharika Pola, Treasurer of GSS at gsstreas@umass.edu.
