It should be understood that our only regular hires are for WOST 187 and the junior year writing course. We occasionally hire TAs to teach other courses on a one time basis. In those cases, similar procedures are followed for hiring and reappointment is not an issue since they are one time only hires.

New TAs are hired by a search committee comprised of the faculty member who teaches the course or another general education course, a current TA chosen by the TAs, and the director. Applications will be solicited from our graduate certificate students and appropriate departments across campus. Preference will be given to our graduate students. The same search committee will choose the Junior year writing TA.

Reappointment will be based on the course director and the department director's assessment of their classroom visitations, and discussions with the TA about their performance. There is a 3 year cap on TA appointments.

Continuing Education TAs will be hired on a rotating basis with priority going to those with senority.
