The Department of Art offers two distinct programs to help you become a contemporary artist and educator through in-depth core disciplines and interdisciplinary approaches to making art. The three-year M.F.A. is ideal if you wish to develop a career in art, immersing yourself in an academic setting with opportunities for interaction and critique with professional artists and like-minded peers. The M.A. in Art Education, on the other hand, gives you a strong and balanced foundation as an artist, teacher, and researcher, from the practical aspects of being an educator to critical pedagogy, such as different philosophies of art and approaches to teaching.
