Afro-American Studies

The Afro-American Studies graduate program directly addresses the growing demand for scholars and teachers who are professionally trained and able to teach in the field of African American/Africana Studies at all levels. By taking an integrative approach to the study of history, politics, economics, and culture, you’ll develop the intellectual and scholarly capacity to undertake an African American critique of American life, history, and society, as well as to make on-going contributions to the scholarship on the questions of race, race relations, and Africa and its Diaspora.
