The academic policies, procedures, and deadlines in the Graduate Student Handbook have been established by the Graduate Council to ensure consistent standards in enrollment, education records, degree requirements, and the awarding of degrees across all UMass Amherst graduate programs.
Any Graduate School regulation or procedure shall not preclude graduate programs from developing specific regulations or procedures which are more restrictive or selective.
