Are you trying to find the right fit, weighing the pros and cons of careers in academia, government, industry, or elsewhere? Richard (Rick) Freedman found the perfect blend at Smart Information Flow Technologies (SIFT), LLC, a small R&D consulting company where the majority of researchers hold advanced degrees from fields like computer science, neuroscience, engineering, human factors, linguistics, and anthropology. SIFT researchers also collaborate broadly with members of industry, academia, and government.  In this session, Rick will talk about his transition from Ph.D. candidate in computer science to researcher at a well-respected “think tank” and how this role allows him to do all the things he loves. A pizza lunch will be provided.
