Because of the COVID-19 situation, I am having trouble ordering my final transcript, or getting it translated. How can I meet your transcript requirement?

While we cannot waive the final official transcript requirement, we can extend the deadline to September if the delay in providing documents is due to the pandemic.  We encourage students to use secure electronic delivery whenever possible.

I was admitted for the fall but my current school just closed for the semester and now I will not finish my undergraduate degree in time. What are my options?

You must complete your undergraduate degree before you can begin your graduate studies with UMass Amherst.  If you will not be able to complete your undergraduate degree before you are scheduled to begin your graduate studies with UMass Amherst, contact your admitting program to discuss the possibility of deferring your enrollment.

May I defer admission until January 2021 or Fall 2021?

If you are unable to attend in person in the fall, please contact your academic program to discuss deferral options; some programs may have online courses available so that you can start in the fall semester.

I was admitted for the fall. What is the response deadline? Can it be extended?

UMass Amherst abides by the Council of Graduate Schools’ Resolution Regarding Graduate Scholars, Fellows, Trainees, and Assistants. If your offer comes with financial support, you are not obligated to notify us of your response to this offer before April 15
