Meet the Legislative Branch

The Legislative Branch, composed of the Senate, is the policymaking body of the GSG. Its members represent various colleges, schools, and departments, ensuring that all graduate students have a voice in decision-making. This branch deliberates on issues affecting the student body and approves measures that shape the direction of GSG efforts​

Speaker of the Senate

Fei Han is a current PhD candidate in the Department of Sociology. Prior to attending UMass, Fei graduated with a double degree from Peking University. Their double degree was with a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Laws. Fun fact, Fei's parents gave them the same name as an ancient philosopher!

As the Speaker of the Senate, Fei is responsible for the business and management of the senate. The Speaker of the Senate is voted in through an election within the senate. The Speaker also serves as the chief presiding officer, the chief clerk, and the parliamentarian of the Senate. As Speaker, Fei also serves on the GSG Steering Committee.
