The UMass Amherst Institute for Global Health (IGH), International Programs Office, and the School of Public Health and Health Sciences are pleased to announce the sixth talk in the IGH 2021-2022 Global Health Seminar Series by Masaya Kato, PhD, MPH. He will deliver a talk titled "COVID-19 Pandemic Situation and Response in WHO South-East Asia Region" on April 14, 2022, from 11:30 am - 12:30 pm via Zoom.

Dr. Kato has been working to strengthen communicable disease response and health security systems in Asian countries for the past 20 years. At present, Dr. Kato works with the World Health Organization Health Emergencies Program at WHO Regional Office for South-East Asia and coordinates the team of Health Emergency Information and Risk Assessment. 

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused the universal health and socio-economic crisis in recent history. In this presentation, Dr. Kato will discuss the epidemiology, risk assessment, and risk-based approach to adjusting public health and social measures and possibly how we may adjust the surveillance for COVID-19.
