In partnership with the Office of Vice Chancellor Research & Engagement, the International Programs Office may open calls for modest seed-funding or researcher mobility grants with global partners. Researchers are encouraged to build upon these programs by pursuing larger joint-funding opportunities through the review of the following resources:

As part of UMass Amherst’s participation in the 2025 International Academic Partnership Program (IAPP) Vietnam, the university is eligible to apply for seed grant funding to support new or deepened collaborations with Vietnamese institutions of higher education. The program is coordinated by the Institute of International Education (IIE) and supported by the U.S. Embassy in Vietnam.

Eligible proposals must involve joint projects between a U.S. and Vietnamese institution, align with one of the program’s priority areas:

  • Engineering and Emerging Technology
  • Healthcare
  • Agriculture and Biotechnology
  • English Language Acquisition and Teacher Training for English as a Medium of Instruction

The proposal must include a timeline for implementation within six months. Awards are up to $15,000, with cost-sharing encouraged.

Proposals are due by August 1, 2025. UMass Amherst faculty interested in applying are encouraged to contact the Office of Global Affairs.
