"I believe that, though, going abroad your first semester is not the right fit for everyone, it has helped me tremendously. In a way, being abroad your first semester was like a college and adult life bootcamp. Being here, you are learning to budget, personal limits and likes and dislikes. These skills will no doubt be helpful when exploring life and academics back in Amherst."

"First of all, do it and second of all, once you do it, just live your life. You’re in a new country; you’re not at home... don’t stay in your bubble. It’s scary, that’s a fact of life, but you got to go out, you got to explore, and you got to actually experience the [city]."

"The biggest way I grew in London was how adaptable I became. I was repeatedly stepping out of my comfort zone, which made me more flexible and comfortable with change. By the end of my program, I was more confident in myself when unexpected changes happened."

"This experience definitely helped shape my growth into becoming a more independent and capable student. Not only did I learn how to navigate a huge and completely new city, but I also learned to become familiar with the tube (train) and bus routes throughout the inner and outer city. In addition to that, I soon adapted to cultural differences like names of certain foods (for example rocket is arugula), English slang and more... I could give many examples where an experience while being abroad has positively impacted who I am today and I think that speaks to how amazing this program is as a whole and goes to show how important experiencing the world is."

"The most common question I heard when I got back from London was, would you do it again? To answer that in the most simple way, yes... Every single day was a new adventure, whether it be the V&A museum right down the road from classes or the oldest pie-and-mash shop in London ... The classes themselves were fascinating, and being able to learn something in one class and apply it to another, e.g. anthropology and business ethics, was not something I had expected...For three months I’ve had the most brilliant time with brilliant people, people who I would not have otherwise met, or even have been friends with in the first place. Right away I felt welcomed into the cohort and somehow found my niche incredibly quickly all due to the warmth and acceptance inside of the group.”
