Alyson Rutherford

As the Global Safety and Security Coordinator, Aly helps to support UMass Amherst students, staff, and faculty traveling abroad. Aly earned her B.A. in International Studies & Religion Studies from Muhlenberg College, where she studied abroad with SIT in Serbia in Spring 2020 – having to complete part of the program remotely due to Covid. She went on to earn a M.A. in Terrorism, Security, & Society from King’s College London in 2022, with a focus on researching the links between conspiracy theories and violence. Before joining the Office of Global Affairs, Aly spent two years living abroad as a member of the Program & Student Services team at CEA CAPA’s London Center.
