Old Chapel is the most widely recognized symbol of the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Shuttered for years, Old Chapel officially reopened in March of 2017. Read more about Old Chapel’s significance. From the beginning, alumni and friends have stepped forward at critical points to provide vital financial support for Old Chapel.
UMass Amherst still needs the help of alumni and friends to fund this comprehensive restoration. Our goal is to raise $2.5 million in gifts for this national treasure that is cherished by generations of alumni and friends.
The ground floor is once again a gathering space open to the entire university community. The upper level has been beautifully restored as a community event space for lectures, productions, and special events. Interested in Old Chapel as venue for an event? Send an email to OldChapel@umass.edu.
