PhD candidate Tiarra Cooper has been awarded a Dissertation Fieldwork Grant from UMass Amherst. During July and August of 2021, Tiarra will be visiting the Landesarchiv Nordrhein-Westfalen in order to access the collection of the Bund der „Euthanasie“-Geschädigten und Zwangssterilisierten (BEZ). The archive houses hundreds of letters and testimonies from sterilization survivors, and will partially form the basis of Tiarra's dissertation, "A Dialogue in Affect: The Experiences of Women Sterilized under Germany's National Socialism." The grant has also generously enabled Tiarra to bring her youngest son, Uzoma Cooper, in tow.
Congratulations Tiarra!
