PhD candidate Ester Gonzalez Martin has been awarded a SPARK scholarship to attend this year's Deutsche Sommerschule am Pazifik. SPARK is an initiative of the American Association of Teachers of German and the Goethe-Institut, designed to provide professional development for German language educators.

Through this scholarship, Ester Gonzalez Martin will be able to attend Portland State University's annual Deutsche Sommerschule am Pazifik, a week-long institute for German instructors. This year's Sommerschule will cover the theme "performative didactics." As part of the scholarship, Gonzalez Martin will contribute to SPARK's after-school German program during the 2023-24 academic year.
