Internships and Research Placements in Germany
iSTEP will work with you to identify international opportunities that are best suited to your language abilities, experience, and your specific STEM field. Past students have received internship offers from SIEMENS Berlin and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.
We will help you find placements in internships in STEM industries, or research placements in labs at universities and other facilities. Many German companies offer paid internships. Internship and research lab placements can be from one month to half a year. Credits earned through independent study or an internship in Germany count toward the STEM-German major concentration.
Study Abroad
Studying abroad is an excellent opportunity to strengthen your language skills, experience the German culture, get to know the German university system, start lifelong friendships, and build important connections for your future career. Students in the iSTEP program typically study at one of the universities in the states of Hesse or Baden-Württemberg in Germany, but have the opportunity to choose another university in Germany. The iSTEP program has especially close relationships with the Technical University Darmstadt and the University of Stuttgart.
For more information on studying abroad, visit the UMass Amherst International Programs Office (IPO).
