MassMarsh will develop a statewide Plan to:
1. Establish a robust salt marsh monitoring framework for comprehensive use across Massachusetts.
2. Develop long-term data collection strategies and analyses, enabling stakeholders to assess the condition of marshes and track changes over time.
3. Develop standardized operating procedures (SOPs) that will
a. evaluate effectiveness of specific restoration and adaptation techniques,
b. ensure consistency in facilitating comparison of outcomes across projects and different regions of Massachusetts.
4. Identify and track current and emerging threats to salt marsh ecosystems.
5. Provide technical assistance for monitoring project design and data analysis, including the development of new monitoring approaches and technologies.
6. Establish systems to compile and share data from past, current, and future efforts.
