The most recent General Education Task Force was mandated by Provost Charlena Seymour in Fall 2007; it concluded its term in Spring 2009. All General Education Task Forces are comprised of faculty, administrators, and students from many disciplines. The most recent Task Force was charged with recommending ways to improve the Gen Ed experience, focusing especially on curriculum design and delivery as well as support for faculty who teach Gen Ed courses. Office of Assessment, Survey, and Effectiveness Research
ASER works closely with the Faculty Senate General Education Council on the ongoing review and assessment of the General Education Program. General Education Assessment includes mapping of General Education Learning Objectives to General Education Courses, multifaceted assessments of General Education initiatives like the introduction of the upper-division Integrative Experience (IE) requirement, quantitative and qualitative assessments of students’ experiences with General Education, and the direct assessment of selected General Education learning objectives.
