Professor of French, Emerita. A former chair of the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures, she served as Dean of the College of Humanities and Fine arts from 2010 to 2020. Her research areas include literature and philosophy in early modern France, the history and theory of translation, and contemporary literary theory. She is a past president of the American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies.
