Research participants are needed for the following studies:

 

  • Join the Nolden Sensory team database

The Department of Food Science is looking for participants to join a recruitment database for the Sensory Evaluation Laboratory. They are looking for participants between the ages of 18-45 who are not pregnant or breastfeeding, have no known food allergies, do not smoke, and do not have tongue or cheek piercings.

Participants will receive emails about upcoming studies. Studies will typically require participants to taste and evaluate various food/beverage products or complete online questionnaires.

  • Nanotechnology public acceptance survey

The Nolden's sensory lab is looking for the people who are between 18 and 80 years old and living in the U.S. for over 3 years. This is a survey on people's acceptance of nanotechnology used in food. People would be asked a series of questions about nanotechnology, and 10 $50 Amazon gift cards would be given to the people selected from the list of email addresses voluntarily provided following completion of the survey.

  • The influence of personality on individual preference of presentation of plant-based foods

​Take part in an online survey on food preferences. Takes 10-15 minutes and can be accessed on a personal computer or device. Three $25 gift cards will be raffled off upon close of the survey!

  • On what basis do clinicians define the term Dysgeusia?

Are you a qualified clinician who work in the United States with cancer patients that complain of taste problems?

The researchers from the Nolden Lab of the Department of Food Science at the University of Massachusetts Amherst are recruiting participants for a research study to identify areas and clinical groups which need different education and tools to help treat patients suffering from taste distortions.

If you are a qualified clinician who,

  • Work in the United States
  • Work with patients that complain of taste problems as a result of cancer treatments

You are invited to participate in a brief online survey which will take around 15 minutes. Your participation would help us to untangle the disparities in taste assessing methods and terminologies, and thereby to find successful and uniform taste distortion management techniques.

Upon the completion of the study, you will be eligible to enter a raffle draw where ten $100 Amazon gift cards will give away.
