Our pilot plant has equipment for food processing studies, food bioactives isolation/ concentration, thermal processing, spray drying, freeze drying, emulsion system, etc. Facilities are available to internal and external researchers on a fee-for-service basis. The UMass Amherst campus maintains more than 30 core equipment facilities for researchers. Many of facilities are housed in the new Life Sciences Laboratory (LSL2) building. More information can be found on the UMass Amherst IALS website.
